Finding Joy in the Everyday

Thank YOU Wreath-Easy Thanksgiving Craft

Does your family play the "Thankful Game"?  There are many different varieties of this game......and for our family, it comes in the form of a wreath.  Ever since I was a very young girl, my family has gotten together for Thanksgiving with our whole extended family-aunts, cousins, grandparents, etc.  That's the blessing of all of us living in the same area.  Blessed, very much so.  Anyway, before we eat our Thanksgiving meal, my family circles up to pray.  But, before we pray, we go around the group and share something we are thankful for.  Love it.  We can always count on my cousin Will to say "turkey and mashed potatoes", most others to say "family", and when my grandpa was living, he'd always say "For my health.".  So true, right?

But now that my own children are getting a little older, I want to make them more aware of their "thanks".  Our family has so much to be thankful for, and I decided to let them share in a different way.  This "Thank YOU Wreath" didn't cost me anything....I already had the wreath form from my Ribbon and Jute Fall Wreath, and some fall themed scrapbooking paper from the Little Pumpkin Baby Shower.  I used my Cricut to cut some leaf forms, and set them and some markers on the counter.  I let my kids, when they felt a "thank" coming on, write down what they were thankful for.  Then, as the pile grew, I started to pin them on the wreath.  This is what is hanging on my kitchen wall right now......

Love!  I love having this visual reminder of what we are thankful for in our family.  It is so cool!  My kids are thinking of the funniest things, too.  "Money to pay our bills", "LEGOS", etc.  And some of the more "general"....I think we each have written down each other's names to share that we are thankful for each individual in our family.  I hope you'll gather some supplies and make a wreath, a simple visual reminder of what you have to be thankful for over the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

That is such a fantastic idea! I love that it's beautiful, and so meaningful and unique at the same time. I'll have to try it when my kids get older (it's pinned!)
