Finding Joy in the Everyday

Supporting Your FAVORITE Team through Fashion {Style Contributor}

Hey there, friends!

First, let me begin by saying how incredibly excited I am to be here at My Favorite Finds as the "official Fashion and Style contributor"!  Over at my blog, One Artsy Mama, I primarily blog about DIY crafts and home decor for kids and grown-ups, but I also have a real love of fashion, which Carrie has asked me to share about here once a month.

As I thought about what style tips I wanted to share with you for January, I couldn't help but think about how important this weekend is to our family...we are HUGE Baltimore Ravens fans, and our team is in the AFC Championship game tomorrow night!!  For those of you who could care less about football, that means we're just one win away from being in the Super Bowl!

I know not all of you are Ravens fans {but you should be!}; some of you root for other teams or are passionate about college football, others of you cheer for particular basketball, baseball, hockey, or college athletic teams, and some of you have kids on sports teams that you root for like crazy!

So, today, I'm going to share some fashion tips for supporting your team when you're not wearing your jersey.  Here are a few ideas for outfits and accessories that are super-stylish and not over-the-top team spirited, while still showing your colors.

1. Give yourself a colorful manicure.

Our Ravens colors are purple and black {and sometimes gold}.  I bought myself some Essie nail polish {$7 at Target} in the color "play date" and have been wearing it all week.  You can even fancy it up by adding the second color as french tips!  How fun is that?

2. Find a cardigan in your team's color and pair it with a dress or skirt and belt.

Fortunately for me, one of the Ravens colors {black} is a great neutral, so I can always easily find a black skirt or dress to wear with my purple sweater.  To make it interesting and not too over-the-top "Ravensy," I add a belt and accessories in another color, like turquoise or pink.  If your team's colors don't include a neutral {ie: the Redskins are red and yellow}, you could do the cardigan in one color and the accessories in the other and then just choose a neutral.  So, if I were a Redskins fan {when pigs fly...lol}, I might wear a black base with a yellow sweater and a red belt or vice versa.

3. Make or buy some fun, chunky jewelry in your team's colors.
Statement jewelry, well, makes a statement!  Throw on a fun necklace to accent your favorite outfit while showing your team pride in a more subtle way.

4. Get some leggings or tights in your team's color!
Then, build your outfit around them.  I had fun making this outfit on Polyvore using purple leggings, a black top, and bringing in the gold through the accessories.  We Ravens fans have to be very careful, though, that our gold doesn't get too yellow...wouldn't want to be mistaken for a Steelers fan!!

 Of course, there will be times {like tomorrow} when nothing but your jersey will do...

What's your favorite stylish way to show support to your home team?  I'd love to see your pics!  Tag me on facebook, Twitter {@oneartmama} , or Instagram {@oneartsymama}!  I'd also love for you to stop by the blog for a visit.  Have a great weekend, and GO RAVENS!

    I don't really follow professional football but a lot of my neighbors/co-workers are Ravens fans since I live in Northern VA! Congrats on going to the Superbowl!
