I have two sweet boys who are all of a sudden 11! I can’t believe that in February, these sweet boys will be turning the corner toward their teenage years! Or, maybe I can’t believe that I am old enough to have 11 year olds! Every year, I am on the quest to find cool Christmas gifts for them. You know, something super awesome that they’ll love and treasure for years to come~and maybe even last long enough to give it to their kids. While they still want toys, I’m happy to oblige~before they turn toward wanting super expensive electronics. One of the cool Christmas gifts I’m gifting them this year is a Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun.
My boys love to pretend and run around shooting things. Naturally, they are curious about guns and weapons, as I think most boys are! But I am concerned for their safety, and if we are going to move away from the NERF guns, we are going with a BB Gun. They were absolutely ecstatic when I came home with these. I think a sense of maturing wafted over them when they knew that Sunday afternoon, they were going to go out and shoot BBs with daddy and grandpa. And grandpa was ready! He had bales of straw, a homemade target, and some cans of water to shoot!
Safety is still the number one priority with any weapon, right? Having the Red Ryder is a win~win. The boys can go out to my parents’ house in the country, set up some fun targets, and have quality time with their dad and grandpa. On this particular day, daddy had come straight from church to meet us for a fun afternoon of shooting BBs.
Since Daisy educates roughly one million of America’s youth a year through their Ten Lesson Shooting Curriculum about BB gun use and safety (found here), I thought it would be the best brand to buy for our boys. I went to Wal Mart and picked up two Red Ryder BB Guns, some Daisy BBs, and safety goggles. Even though the boys wear glasses, I thought the safety goggles were a must. Since the weather is still “nice” right now, I gifted it to them early~otherwise they’d probably have to wait until March or so to use them. That’s no fun with new toys, right? It doesn’t take a lot to set up an easy target or fill some empty cans with water in them to shoot. And before you know it, the guys in your family are out there enjoying some quality time together and you’ve given a great gift!
I know YOU would love to give one of these to a lucky young man in your life! I’ve partnered with WalMart to bring you a $100 WalMart Gift Card Giveaway to one lucky reader! Please note, your Walmart gift card will not arrive in time for Christmas. The Rafflecopter will walk you through the giveaway below. Good luck!
