Finding Joy in the Everyday

Pantry Organization {Realistic, Functional, and Inexpensive}

The pantry.....top, middle, and bottom.  Eeewww!!
This, my dear readers, is the floor of my pantry BEFORE I tackled it.  Yea, yuck.
Maybe it's not terrible, but for me, I couldn't stand it anymore.  As you work your way up the shelves, you see more clutter......

I know...bags of snacks, a milkshake maker, sometimes one of my crockpots, and other various things live on the top shelf.  In between these two shelves, are somewhat organized.....and random.....foods as well.
I decided to take matters into my own hands.  I wanted a simple way to store and contain our foods.   It had to be FUNCTIONAL, REALISTIC, and INEXPENSIVE.

Here is the end result:
I used Chalkboard Contact Paper, this Bistro Chalk Marker Set, and plastic shoebox
 containers.  I also had some canvas bins and some clear food storage containers to use.

My favorite part is the bottom....

I used this fun Sterilite
storage unit to store our baggies, foils/wraps, and extra paper towels.  All these things, except the paper towels, were in a kitchen drawer.  That drawer was freed up for utensils
I also trimmed down the spice rack....and put all the baking spices in a plastic shoebox on the top shelf of the pantry.  Beside it are my cookie cutters and decorating supplies.  By putting these in the pantry, I was able to rearrange my baking cabinet and it's not so overcrowded now.
I know it's not Better Homes and Gardens or Real Simple, but it fits our family and looks so much better!

    Great job!! Love that chalkboard contact paper! Never heard of it... would be so much cheaper than buying the labels!
