My sweet youngest sister graduated from college with her MBA recently. That is such an awesome accomplishment! And definitely worthy of celebrating! But, I didn't want to get her the typical graduation gift....money, gift cards, etc. Although those would come in handy, I really wanted to make it personal. And, since she has a talent and love for photography, I knew a photo gift would be perfect. So, I made her this Black and White Photo Quote Canvas using a picture of her and my children from her wedding day-and her favorite quote! She, and my mom, have both taught our children the lyrics to the refrain of "I Love You, a Bushel and a Peck". This project was so easy! But, it turned out so cute!

Supplies:

8x10 black and white photo

12x12 canvas

Black acrylic paint

Vinyl or ABC stickers

Silhouette, Cricut, etc. {any machine that will cut vinyl}

Paint brush

Mod Podge

Directions:

1. Center your photo on your canvas-but don't glue it down yet! This will help you decide how big to make your letters, and how you'll position your vinyl.

2. Set up your file on your Silhouette, using the text function. Type your quote, sizing it so it's about 11 inches long, and the letters are about two inches high or so. You'll just have to play with it and see how it will look based on the font you choose.

3. After you have cut your vinyl, apply the quote to the canvas. Or, if you are using ABC stickers, this is when you want to apply them directly to the canvas. Make sure they are stuck on there really well. Remember, some of your paint is going to seep through a bit, which sort of gives it a distressed look.

4. After your vinyl is on the canvas, give it a nice coat of acrylic paint. Go lightly over the letters, but get the rest of the canvas pretty good. If you go over the letters too much, the paint will really seep through.

5. Let it dry for about 20 minutes. Then, gently peel the letters off one by one. You'll be left with your quote on your canvas-with the letters white. Set the canvas aside, and let it dry thoroughly.

6. When your canvas is dry, it's time to add the photo. Lightly brush the back of the photo with mod podge and apply it to the canvas. Then, go over the top of the photo with a good coat of Mod Podge. Let it dry thoroughly before adding another coat. I coated mine twice. For a more detailed tutorial on canvasing photos, click HERE.

What I really love about this is the letters. It looks almost vintage or distressed, doesn't it? I wasn't too thrilled at first, when my letters didn't have clean lines around them. But, when I saw that ALL the letters had turned out that way, I was so happy with it! I love giving photos as gifts-especially when I get to be creative with them!

When planning a trip to Walt Disney World, it's so easy to focus on getting the most out of your time in the parks. Planning to arrive at Rope Drop, touring the parks until lunch time then heading back for a break, making sure you get FastPasses for all the headliner rides....plus the other details can really take over your planning. But what about the fun Disney has to offer outside of their parks? In fact, you could spend a whole day just doing fun activities and not even have to use a park ticket! In fact, that is typically the plan for our family on one day of our trip. We set aside one day {usually our arrival day} to explore our resort, the pool, and other parts of Disney that aren't in the parks. So, for today's {FAVORITE} Disney Tip, I want to share our Five Must Dos Outside of the Disney Parks.

1. Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney is an easy half day of fun in and of itself. There are so many fun things to do here! And while it's mostly shops and restaurants, we always work some time in our itinerary to have some fun at Downtown Disney. The boys LOVE the LEGO store-and one of the coolest things about it is the huge sculptures they have outside and inside the LEGO store. We've seen Buzz and Woody, Transformers, and even huge dragons. So cool! Also, we do a lot of our souvenir shopping at Downtown Disney. We love the World of Disney, and often find almost all of our souvenirs here. That way, we aren't spending a lot of time shopping at the parks. Also, Wolfgang Puck Express is a great Quick Service Dining restaurant here, and there is also a Rainforest Cafe. Not to mention the boat ride over the Saratoga Springs Resort or the Port Orleans Resorts to explore those as well! There is street entertainment at Downtown Disney, and so many fun and unique photo opportunities as well.

2. Disney's Boardwalk. You can reach Disney's Boardwalk area by walking through EPCOT, or taking a Disney bus. Wow! Love the Boardwalk area! I'm extra excited right now because our family is going to be enjoying the Beach Club Resort-which is right on the Boardwalk-during our upcoming trip. Squeal! Anyway, the Boardwalk is chock full of entertainment, unique shops, and some of the most gorgeous resorts on property! You can rent a surrey and go for a ride around the whole Boardwalk area! Also, I'm looking forward to grabbing some ice cream from Beaches and Cream, and maybe a fun treat from the Boardwalk Bakery while we are there!

3. Take the Monorail. Riding the monorail loop is one thing our kids really look forward to! And, I'm starting to like it more and more. This is a great way to explore the Deluxe Resorts on the Monorail loop. The Polynesian, The Contemporary, and the Grand Floridian are all monorail stops. These resorts are so beautiful-and lend themselves to so many photo opportunities! We love posing in the resort lobbies, or catching Wishes from the Poly beach or the Grand Floridian boat dock. You don't have to be staying at these resorts to tour them and dine at them.

4. Chip and Dale's Campfire Singalong . While 14 of the Disney resorts have campfires nightly-complete with s'mores-Chip and Dale lead a singalong at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground. You have to buy the s'mores kit {or you can bring your own supplies}, but what a fun way to end a day at the parks! Chip and Dale don't interact with everyone at the campfire, and it's not a prime spot for autographs, but it's still fun!

5. Miniature Golf. Walt Disney World offers two miniature golf options-Fantasia Gardens and Summerland Miniature Golf. The Fantasia Gardens is located in the EPCOT area-actually not far from the Boardwalk. It's a fun, magical place to run off some steam, but still enjoy some Disney magic-and a break from the parks. Summerland is located closer to Animal Kingdom Park. You can choose from two scenes there-summer and winter. How fun-miniature golfing in the "snow" in the middle of Florida!

With all these options, you're sure to find something fun to do when you are needing a break from the parks. Some families I know stay off property, yet enjoy some of these activities to get their "Disney fix"-without purchasing a park ticket! What is your {FAVORITE} activity outside the Disney parks? I'm sure I didn't cover them all!

Sarah from Fantastical Sharing of Recipes back again for a little dessert sharing. Last month, I shared my daughter’s pick for her birthday cake and this month, I’m sharing my son’s pick for his birthday cake. He turned six in March and decided that he wanted a Rolo Cake. This cake is awesome – it’s a butter cake with a caramel swirl topped with a very delicious chocolate caramel buttercream. Plus you garnish it with Rolos! The butter cake was my favorite part of it though. It was very moist and flavorful.

Even in the magical Walt Disney World, our little ones always need a nap. Actually we all need a nap, but when you have kids of multiple ages, that’s not always going to happen. Like it or not, your toddler or preschooler will need a nap during the day. I was blessed to have a child that slept in a stroller. But, I have to do some tricks to pull this off! I want to share these with you today!

Magic Kingdom-

There is so much to do in the Magic Kingdom, but by about 1:00, my son is cranky, hot, his belly is full from lunch, and this is prime time for a nap. In this park.. I don’t leave him in the stroller. I always go and get onto the Peoplemover AKA The Tomorrowland Transit Authority, or as some people say just a good ride to rest your legs. If you catch this at a good time, you can ride and your little one can get a nap. There is a good breeze, air-conditioned in the indoor areas, dark, not too loud. With a smaller one, this works well.

EPCOT-

By far the best scenery to stroll with a sleeping child, The World Showcase. I always take a stroll around the World Showcase when my little one is napping. I can actually see things, go in and out of shops, and I don’t have him crying and wanting out of the stroller! I can usually walk thru the entire thing, because as long as I’m moving he stays asleep!

Hollywood Studios-

I always use his naptime to hop over to Hollywood Studios from EPCOT. We take the walkway and walk between the parks. It takes about 25 minutes to walk it, but it is an easy walk! There is a pathway between the two parks, and it’s even lighted at night. It’s a perfect naptime and you know all you Mom’s and Dad’s want to do a little more walking!

Animal Kingdom-

As long as your child is a stroller sleeper, I would suggest Pangani Forest Exploration Trail in the Africa area or Maharajah Jungle Trek in the Asia section. These are great walks that will take a little while to go thru and also help entertain some older siblings.

Always remember, if you can fit a break into your schedule I always advise a small break time back at the resort, let the older kids go play in the pool with one parent, and younger have a quiet/nap time in the room. This will overall make the trip a little more enjoyable for everyone involved.

Hey there, friends! I'm excited to be back again with more style tips. Recently, as I was reading People magazine, I saw the "What's in my bag" section and thought why not do something like that with my makeup bag for this month's post? So here it is...

A quick note before I start unpacking the bag: This post is not sponsored in any way by any of the companies I'm about to mention except for the sunscreen at the very end. You'll see that I'm not loyal to one particular brand; I've shopped around and found my honest favorite of each thing, so I'm telling you what they are. No one gave me anything free {darn!} or paid me {bummer!} although if anyone wants to send me something now I wouldn't say no!

These are the honest to goodness things I use every day.

First of all, if you're wondering, the bag itself is a Vera Bradley and I got it free. Every year on my birthday, they send me a $20 coupon and I "buy" myself something free. This year, I picked the Medium Cosmetic Bag in Very Berry Paisley.

The first part of my beauty routine make-up wise is to apply a tinted moisturizer, Aveeno Positively Radiant. Up until about three months ago, I used a separate moisturizer and foundation. Then I tried this and I'll never go back. It moisturizes, it evens out my skin tone without feeling thick and caked on, and it has SPF 30 UVA/UVB sunscreen, which is really important to me. I inherited the propensity to get lots of moles, so I refuse to let the sun touch my face without it being protected first. Oh, and this stuff smells good too. Extra bonus.

Next, I play around with my eyes.

Eye shadow: If I'm going casual, I just apply some Mary Kay Cream Eyecolor in a bright neutral so I look awake. If I'm going for a more put-together look, my go to eyeshadow is this four color Revlon Illuminance Créme Eyeshadow in the Wild Orchid palette. You can tell that two of the colors are practically gone in this particular pack, so it's time to buy a new one... I always prefer cream eye makeup to powder because it stays put all day and it doesn't get in my eyes and irritate them like powder can. Plus, these are shimmery and a little sparkly!

Eyeliner: I absolutely love this liquid black liner from e.l.f. {eyes, lips, face}. It cost...are you ready for this...$1!! I got it at Target and it is hands down the best liner I've ever used.

Brow Pencil: Maybelline Define-A-Brow is my pencil of choice. Except when I accidentally buy the wrong color and end up looking like a clown. My bad.

Mascara: Friends, over the years, I have tried a LOT of mascaras. I mean a lot. So many brands, promising so many things. This mascara, Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara by Estee Lauder is hands down the very best I've ever used. Ever since I had my makeup done by an Estee Lauder consultant for a ballroom showcase four years ago, I've been loyal to this mascara. Nothing else compares. It costs $22, which makes it the single most expensive item in my bag, but it's worth it. I figure I only spend $1 on the liner, so I can splurge a little on this, right?

Moving on to cheeks and lips...

Bronzer: I like Rimmel Natural Bronzer; it's a little shimmery, gives a nice sun-kissed look, but doesn't look too fakey. Also less than $4 at Walmart...that way I can pay for my mascara!

Blush: Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Plum...I like the creamy stuff better than the powdery, remember?

Lip Gloss: My all-time fave is Mary Kay Pink Diamonds Nourishing Lip Gloss. But they discontinued it. Waaaaah! My consultant was able to score me one last tube, but now it looks like I'll have to go with Pink Sateen instead. It looks pretty close. I also really like Estee Lauder's Pure Color Lip Glosses. Another reason I'm glad I buy cheap inexpensive bronzer and eyeliner... I also have Strawberry Sorbet eos lip balm in my purse for when I need to reapply something...I kind of want to eat it though.

The other thing I don't leave home without is sunscreen. I mentioned earlier that I have a ton of moles, so I'm extra careful to limit my skin's exposure to the sun. I've been using this Rodan + Fields sunscreen on my arms and legs every day as well as another of their sunscreens on my face. They have a lip balm with sunscreen as well. I absolutely love the scent of the Body Sunscreen...it doesn't smell like, well, sunscreen! It smells light and citrusy, clean, and fabulous. I will actually be reviewing and giving away some of this on my own blog in a month or so. {This is the one product I did receive as part of a sponsored review}.

My husband commented to me recently that he could understand why I like "playing with makeup" so much...it's like art but my face is my canvas. I think he's probably right.

So there you have it! That's what's in my bag! What about you? What are your favorite cosmetic products?

Hugs & Glitter,

Amy Latta is the

Hey Everyone it's Nat from NorthShore Days here again to share another super simple jewelry tutorial.

Today I'm going to teach you how to make the easiest earrings EVER!

Here's what you need:

A couple of beads (with a standard sized hole through the middle)

2 long headpins

pliers

hammer

hard surface - I use a little rock

What to Do:

1. Snip off the ends of the headpins. Hammer the tips flat.

2. Thread a bead onto the headpin - it will stop at the wider end.

3 & 4. determine how long you want your earrings to hang and holding it firmly bend the wire around the handle of the pliers (or a pencil)

5. Mold the wire to shape

6. Trip excess wire from the back

Can you believe how easy that was? Seriously?

They are so versatile too, the possibilities are endless. I made 3 pairs in about 15 minutes. I'm loving the red ones.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that you're inspired to make a pair or 2 yourself.
