Crafty Cornucopia {Buttons-A Picture Frame}
Today I am sharing what I made with buttons from Buttons Galore and More. I decided to take an 8x10 picture from that we had at home and turn it into a piece of art to add to my Thanksgiving mantel. Since my Thanksgiving mantel will only be up for a few weeks {we put our Christmas tree up Thanksgiving weekend}, I wanted to make something that I could add to my fall decor, that was already on the mantel, to go from Halloween to Thanksgiving.
"Give Thanks" Thanksgiving Frame
Materials:
*8x10 wood picture frame
*5x7 mat to go inside the frame
*Hot glue
*Ribbon, buttons, other embellishments
*Burlap
*Vinyl
*Scissors, Cricut, Silhouette, or other means to cut letters out of vinyl
Directions:
1. Begin by cutting a piece of burlap to 8x10 inches. This will make the "background" for your letters.
2. "Frame" the piece of burlap. I did this by laying the frame face down, then layering the glass, burlap, and mat. Finally adding the back to the frame.
3. Using vinyl the color of your choice, cut out the words "give thanks". Adhere these to outside of the glass of your frame.
4. Next, cut your ribbon to the length of your frame, plus 2 inches. You'll want about an inch overhang so you can hot glue the end of the ribbon to the back of your frame.
5. Glue the ribbon, just on the ends, to the back of your frame. I did black and white gingham across the top and bottom, and black ribbed ribbon along the sides.
6. Embellish with fabric rosette buttons, or other buttons of your choice. I chose to cluster mine in the upper right hand corner of the frame, adhering them with a small dot of hot glue.
Since you placed the vinyl letters on the outside of the glass, you can easily remove them later and replace them with another saying. Or, you can use the frame for a picture.
How are your button projects coming along? Stop by Thursday and link them up! I cannot wait to see what you've been working on!
