To me, classic Disney is the black, white, and red of Mickey and Minnie Mouse. I do love seeing them in their various costumes, but I always gravitate back to their classic costumes. So this year, I decided on that color scheme for our Disney Vacation Countdown. I created this from all supplies I had on hand, and I have to say it’s one of my favorite ones I’ve made to date!
Disney crafting is my favorite kind of crafting! From t-shirts to wear in the parks, to my daughter’s dance bag, vacation countdowns, and fun pixie dust to send to clients, I use my Cameo for lots of fun Disney projects! I even address envelopes to special little friends of Mickey Mouse and princesses who are getting ready to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. Being in many Silhouette Facebook groups, where you are allowed to share files, has really increased my library on my Cameo and I have tons to choose from! I encourage you to join some crafting groups, specifically geared toward the Silhouette Cameo. Many allow file sharing, and you can download them for personal use. Keep in mind, all my Disney projects I’ve given as gifts or have made for personal use. So today, I am going to share my FAVORITE Six Disney Crafts with Your Silhouette Cameo!
T-shirts, pencil boxes, ornaments, shadow boxes, mixers, water bottles, canvas bags….even my Silhouette Cameo. You name it, I want to put vinyl on it. I can’t walk through the store without wondering what cute design I can put on something. And this mindset has come in handy when I want to create a special gift, or let’s be real….a last minute gift! But, it is important to prepare the surface for applying vinyl. You have spent time creating the design, cutting, and weeding the vinyl, that you want it to look its best! So today I am going to share some tips for preparing surfaces for applying vinyl.
Did you know that you can download fonts from anywhere….my favorite site is DaFont…..to use on your Silhouette Cameo software? This is seriously one of the simplest functions of your Silhouette Cameo, yet it makes a huge addition to the finished craft projects you make for your home and as gifts. Even using the simplest functions in your design software can take a few steps. So today, I want to share with you the technique for downloading fonts to use in your Silhouette Software!
Last week, I shared my easy Post it Note Mason Jar Gift Idea. My daughter is going to give this to her teacher as a Back to School gift next week, and it was so simple! I like for my children to arrive at school on the first day with a positive attitude, a love for their new teacher, and ready to start the year on a positive note. But, I don’t have a lot of time before school starts to make elaborate gifts. Nor do I have a ton of money to spend since I’m buying supplies, clothes, and shoes!
One of the things I like about back to school time is seeing all the cute pictures on Facebook. If you are like most parents, you are on the front porch, or in the yard at your typical photo spot, snapping away on the First Day of School. This year, we have a new twist to back to school in our house…..my daughter is starting Kindergarten. If this To My Fellow Moms on the First Day of Kindergarten doesn’t just make you cry like a baby….and speaking of a baby, I am sending my baby to Kindergarten……nothing will.
Legos are still a hot toy in our house. In fact, our boys are 12, and I often wonder if their love of Legos will extend into their adult lives. We are talking about boys who go to the library, find the non-fiction section, and come out with “How to Build…… from Legos”. They are entertained for hours in the basement on hot summer days, creating and building. Hopefully all this building, creativity, and brick building will serve them well in their careers one day.
Personalized Easter baskets are my favorite.thing.ever. Love them! I purposefully visit Target, the Dollar Tree, and other stores to find items that can be functional, unique, and personalized with vinyl. My Silhouette Cameo never lets me down-and these Personalized Easter Baskets are the perfect project for beginning Silhouette and vinyl users.
Glitter. It is my favorite thing to craft with~next to ribbon. This year for my daughter’s homemade valentines, we made them extra sparkly with some Silhouette Glitter. That stuff is SO.MUCH.FUN! I am so addicted. It’s projects like this that make me so thankful that I have a girl to glitz things up. So this year, we took the Owl Valentine idea I had last year, and made them a bit differently. Despite the fact that I tried to sway her to bees, hearts, or butterflies, she wanted owls again. I tried and tried to show her images on Pinterest of butterflies, bees, and even cute hearts. None of it. She wanted owls again, so owls it is!
